Are you an experienced ELSA-trained Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity where you can make a genuine difference to children's emotional wellbeing?
A welcoming and highly respected primary school in Haringey is seeking an experienced ELSA Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a 3-day-per-week position, working with Year 4 pupils on both a 1:1 basis and through small group ELSA intervention sessions.
This role has been created through secured funding, making previous experience of delivering successful ELSA interventions essential. The successful candidate will be confident in supporting children with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs, helping them build resilience, confidence and emotional literacy.
The Role
- Part-time position (3 days per week)
- September start
- Long-term opportunity until December in the first instance
- Supporting Year 4 pupils
- Delivering structured ELSA interventions on both a 1:1 and small group basis
- Working closely with the school's SENDCo, class teachers and pastoral team
- Monitoring pupil progress and adapting intervention programmes where appropriate
- Creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can develop emotionally and socially
The Ideal ELSA Teaching Assistant Will Have
- Recognised ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training
- Significant experience delivering ELSA interventions in a primary school setting
- Excellent understanding of children's social, emotional and mental health needs
- Experience supporting pupils who require emotional regulation strategies
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Confidence working independently while collaborating effectively with school staff
