Purpose of Role
We are seeking a skilled Reactive Maintenance Electrician to join our facilities maintenance team, delivering planned and reactive electrical maintenance across a secure defence site in Bicester.
Job Description
Working across a varied estate of operational and support buildings, you'll play a key role in ensuring all electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. This is a diverse role where no two days are the same, with responsibilities spanning electrical maintenance, fault finding, compliance, and supporting the wider engineering team. As part of the role, you will also support the maintenance of a large on-site swimming pool. Full specialist training will be provided, with all associated course costs covered by the business.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical repairs across the site.
- Diagnose faults and carry out testing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
- Complete emergency lighting inspections, testing, and remedial works.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair distribution boards, sockets, switches, lighting circuits, and associated equipment.
- Undertake minor rewiring and electrical compliance works.
- Support with minor mechanical, plumbing, and fabric maintenance as part of a multi-skilled facilities team (approximately 20% of the role).
- Assist with the routine maintenance of the site's swimming pool following completion of specialist training.
- Accurately complete maintenance records, compliance documentation, and CAFM updates.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Fully qualified Electrician with NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition, and a valid ECS Gold Card (essential).
- Comfortable attending a compulsory specialist training course covering swimming pool maintenance, fully funded by the employer.
- Eligible for BPSS and Security Clearance (SC), having lived and worked in the UK for the past five years.
- Previous experience within commercial building maintenance or facilities management environments.
- Strong fault-finding, testing, inspection, and reactive maintenance skills.
- Good understanding of statutory compliance and maintenance documentation.
- Full UK Driving Licence (maximum six penalty points and no drink driving convictions).
