Reports to - Director
Salary - £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience + performance-based bonus schemes
Full time - 37.5 hours per week across 5 days (including evenings and Saturdays)
Holidays - 6.0 weeks per year
Role type - Senior leadership position responsible for running coaching across a multi-site gymnastics club
Locations - Three centres in Walsall: Manor Farm (WS4 1EU), Bloxwich (WS3 2DA), Oak Park (WS9 9BH)
The Role
Active Gym is one of the largest recreational gymnastics clubs in the West Midlands, with over 500 members across three sites. We're looking for an ambitious leader to take ownership of our coaching programme and help shape the next stage of the club's growth.
Supported by the Director during transition, this role is suitable for an experienced coach ready to step into leadership.
This is an opportunity to take a leading role in a growing club with clear progression and development.
You will take ownership of:
- Coaching delivery
- Staff performance
- Session standards
You will lead, manage and develop the coaching team, ensuring sessions are structured, effective and consistent across all sites.
You will be the primary point of responsibility for all coaching operations, with coaches reporting directly to you.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Management
- You'll coach alongside your team, mentor coaches on the floor, observe sessions, provide feedback and create an environment where every child receives a brilliant experience every week.
- Set clear expectations and maintain high coaching standards
- Provide regular feedback and address underperformance directly
- Play an active role in recruitment, onboarding and development of coaches
Programme & Operations
- Oversee the structure and delivery of all gymnastics programmes
- Manage rotas, staffing and session coverage
- Monitor gymnast progression and alter training where appropriate
- Ensure consistency in delivery across all sessions and sites
Coaching
- Deliver sessions weekly and lead by example on the floor
- Support coaches during sessions to maintain standards
Safeguarding & Standards
- Ensure all sessions meet safety and safeguarding requirements
- Maintain compliance with governing body guidelines
- Act as a key point of contact for day-to-day parent questions and feedback
- Serve as first-aid lead
Authority
- Manage coaching staff performance and conduct
- Make decisions on session structure, programming and groupings
- Handle day-to-day parent concerns and operational issues
- Address performance and conduct issues appropriately, escalating where required
- Take ownership of day-to-day operational decisions across all sites
Requirements
- British Gymnastics or Independent Gymnastics Association Level 2 (or equivalent)
- Proven experience coaching gymnastics across a range of ages and abilities
- Experience managing or leading a team
- Ability to confidently address underperformance and maintain standards
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends

Active Gym is a growing gymnastics club with over 500 members across three sites in Walsall. Our focus is delivering high-quality, structured and engaging sessions that help children progress while enjoying the sport.
We are building a strong coaching team and are looking for someone who can take ownership of the coaching operation and help drive the club forward.
This role is suited to someone who is confident leading a team, setting standards and taking ownership of a multi-site coaching operation.
