Vehicle Technician – Melksham

£26,000–£29,000 per year + Bonus
Wiltshire Tyre & Autocentres are looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join our busy Andover depot.
We are a family-owned independent group of fast-fit garages and mobile tyre-fitting vans, with depots in Royal Wootton Bassett, Andover, Melksham and Chippenham. We provide a wide range of services including tyres, wheel alignment, MOTs, servicing, brakes, exhausts and general vehicle repairs.

The role
This is a hands-on role within a busy workshop, carrying out servicing, repairs and diagnostic work to a high standard. You will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are worked on safely, correctly and efficiently, while helping the depot maintain excellent levels of customer service.
Main duties
- Carrying out vehicle servicing and routine maintenance
- Diagnosing faults and identifying the most effective repair solution
- Completing repairs including brakes, suspension, exhausts and general mechanical work
- Supporting MOT preparation and carrying out MOT repair work where required
- Communicating clearly with the front-of-house team regarding vehicle condition and required work
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
- Maintaining accurate job records and paperwork
- Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe
- Working efficiently as part of the depot team to keep jobs moving and customers looked after
What we are looking for
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic
- Good all-round mechanical knowledge
- Ability to carry out servicing, repairs and fault-finding confidently
- A responsible and quality-focused approach to your work
- Good time management and the ability to work on your own initiative
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Excellent customer service awareness
- Full UK driving licence
- Own tools required
Desirable but not essential
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent experience
- Experience with diagnostics
- Experience working in a busy independent garage or fast-fit environment
