Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, supporting medical staff, and ensuring the wellbeing of our patients. The Care Practitioner will play a vital role in assisting with medication administration and providing personalised care tailored to individual needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist consultant surgeons during cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Perform surgical first assistant duties in theatre
- Provide pre-operative assessment and post-operative patient management
- Undertake ward rounds and patient reviews
- Support enhanced recovery pathways
- Assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures within scope of practice
- Provide clinical advice and support to nursing and medical teams
- Participate in emergency cardiothoracic procedures when required
Patient Care
- Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care
- Monitor and manage patient recovery following surgery
- Assess and manage complications in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and recovery
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
Multidisciplinary Working
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and allied health professionals
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Support service development and quality improvement initiatives
Governance & Compliance
- Adhere to Trust policies and procedures
- Maintain compliance with professional standards and regulations
- Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement
- Contribute to risk management and incident reporting
Essential Requirements
- Registered Healthcare Professional (NMC / HCPC)
- Qualified Surgical Care Practitioner
- Significant experience within Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Experience working at advanced practitioner level
- Ability to assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Strong clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable Requirements
- MSc or Postgraduate qualification in Surgical Care Practice
- Previous NHS experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Experience working within a tertiary cardiac centre
- Advanced life support certification (ALS)

Pay: £50.00-£52.00 per hour
