£15.00 per hour | 16 guaranteed contracted hours | Usually two 8-hour shifts
Chester – near the City Center & University
Fixed-term until August 2028 | Direct employment (Not an agency)
I am looking for a warm, reliable and friendly Personal Assistant/Carer to support me with university, appointments and everyday life.
This is a generally calm, one-to-one role with quieter periods, particularly while I am in lectures or studying. During these times, you are welcome to read, study or relax, provided you remain available if I need assistance.
No previous care experience is required. Full step-by-step training will be provided.
Hours & Flexibility
- 16 guaranteed contracted hours per week
- Usually two 8-hour shifts
- Days and times will be discussed and agreed together
- Each 8-hour shift includes a 30-minute paid break within the 8 working hours
- Additional hours may occasionally be available by mutual agreement
Once a working pattern is agreed, I aim to keep it consistent and predictable.
Occasionally, a university commitment or medical appointment may mean I need to ask about adjusting a day or shift time. Any changes will be discussed in advance wherever possible, and you will not be expected to have unlimited availability or routinely stay beyond your agreed hours.
Your family, personal time and other commitments will be respected. This role can work well alongside another job, self-employed care work, studies or other responsibilities.
What You’ll Help With;
University & Everyday Life
- Accompanying me at university and appointments
- Opening doors, carrying items and practical assistance
- Shopping, errands and community activities
There are often periods at university when little active assistance is needed.
Driving
- Driving my Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) to university, appointments and local activities
A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
Personal Care
This includes:
- Assistance with showering and dressing
- Emptying a catheter bag
- Support with eye drops
You will receive full training in these routines and every other aspect of the role before being expected to carry them out independently.
Mobility
I use a wheelchair, and you will NOT be required to lift or hoist me.
At Home
- Light meal preparation
- Basic household tasks
- General practical assistance
About You
I am looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual
- Friendly, calm and respectful
- Comfortable working one-to-one
- Respectful of privacy and personal boundaries
- Willing to learn how I prefer to be supported
- Comfortable providing personal care once trained
Previous PA or care experience is welcome but not essential. Reliability, attitude and a willingness to learn are equally important.
Pay & Employment
- £15.00 per hour
- 16 guaranteed contracted hours per week
- 30-minute paid break included within each 8-hour shift
- Direct employment with payroll and payslips
