Waking Night Care Worker – Residential Children’s Home
Heal Care Group
At Heal Care Group, our mission is to raise the bar for children in care. We run therapeutic, high-quality homes built on safety, stability, and healing. Everything we do is designed to set the gold standard and give children the strongest possible chance to thrive.
Waking Night staff play a vital role in this mission. While the home sleeps, you provide safety, reassurance, and calm - helping children feel secure throughout the night and ensuring the home is ready for the day ahead.
Why Join Us?
As a Waking Night Care Worker, you are often the steady, calming presence children depend on during the quiet hours. You’ll help maintain a peaceful environment, respond to emotional or practical needs, and ensure the home remains safe, clean, and well-run.
This role suits someone who is patient, observant, and confident working independently while still being part of a supportive team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide consistent overnight supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of children in our care.
- Maintain a calm, reassuring presence and offer emotional support if a child wakes distressed or unsettled.
- Monitor the home environment, following care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.
- Complete nightly checks, logs, and incident reports to a high professional standard.
- Ensure the home remains clean, tidy, and prepared for the next day (following a clear cleaning rota).
- Support bedtime and morning routines, creating smooth transitions for young people.
- Work closely with day staff by giving a clear, detailed handover at the start and end of each night.
- Be open to providing support at other homes occasionally if required.
What We’re Looking For
- A caring, patient, and reliable person who wants to support children with complex needs.
- Ability to stay calm, alert, and responsive throughout the night.
- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries (training provided).
- Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People (or willingness to complete it).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Must be 21+ to meet industry regulations.
- Ability to work on-site at our homes in Sandwell, West Midlands.
- Flexibility to work a 4-on-4-off night shift pattern.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay – in the top 5% of the sector.
- 28 days annual leave.
- Fully funded qualifications (Level 3/4/5).
- Clear development pathways into Senior Night Worker or day-time roles.
- £500 Refer-a-Friend bonus.
- Employee rewards, recognition, and appreciation schemes.
- A supportive, respectful team culture.
- The chance to make a meaningful difference in a child’s sense of safety and security.
