We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and experience Chef/Cook to join the kitchen team at The Shannon Inn. We would consider experienced or someone looking to get into the hospitality industry and grow a career.
This is a hands-on role supporting the Management with the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You will help ensure food is prepared and served to a consistently high standard while supporting the wider kitchen team during busy services.
The Shannon Inn is a local community pub serving quality, traditional pub food. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their cooking, works well under pressure and enjoys being part of a small, supportive team.
Key responsibilities
- Day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Preparing and cooking food to a consistently high standard
- Taking responsibility for the kitchen
- Helping to organise and supervise the kitchen team during service
- Ensuring dishes are prepared and presented consistently
- Helping with menu preparation and specials
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and safety standards
- Following food safety and HACCP procedures
- Monitoring stock levels and helping with deliveries and stock rotation
- Minimising food waste and maintaining good portion control
- Ensuring the kitchen is clean, organised and ready for service
- Supporting and training less experienced members of the kitchen team
- Communicating effectively with Front of House staff
- Working efficiently during busy services
- Following company policies and procedures
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working in a professional kitchen
- Is confident preparing and cooking a range of dishes
- Can work calmly and efficiently during busy services
- Takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food
- Has good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety
- Is organised, reliable and able to use their initiative
- Works well as part of a team
- Is comfortable taking responsibility when required
- Has a positive attitude and good work ethic
- Is available to work evenings and weekends
A relevant food hygiene qualification would be desirable, although training can be provided where required.
