We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and respectful Housekeeper to join our friendly team. You’ll help maintain the cleanliness of the Convent, provide a high-quality laundry service, and support the wellbeing, privacy and dignity of the Sisters through the standards you set each day.
In accepting this post of Housekeeper you must be aware of your working environment. This is a Religious Community of Sisters of Mercy who sit on the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Our Lady of Mercy. The post requires respect for the religious ethos and practices of the Community.
What You'll Be Doing
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the Convent, including bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas and offices.
- Provide a quality laundry service, including washing, drying, ironing and caring for delicate items.
- Help ensure the Convent is safe, tidy and welcoming for Sisters, visitors and staff.
- Help to coordinate the organisation of meetings and events hosted by the Trustees to include putting food into the oven to warm and stacking/emptying dishwasher.
- Follow infection prevention, health and safety, COSHH and cleaning procedures.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards or concerns promptly.
- Manage cleaning supplies and support stock control.
- Respect the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the Sisters at all times.
- Work flexibly as part of the wider team to meet the needs of the Community.
About You
You'll be someone who:
- Has experience in housekeeping, cleaning or laundry services.
- Takes pride in delivering high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Is hardworking, dependable, well organised and able to work independently.
- Understands the importance of infection prevention and safe working practices.
- Is respectful, discreet and comfortable working within a convent and Religious Community.
- Understands the importance of privacy, dignity and kindness when working in someone’s home.
- Has a positive, practical attitude and is willing to be flexible to support the day-to-day needs of the Convent.
