We’re looking for someone reliable and hard-working to join WiseWashing as a Roof Cleaning Technician.
No previous roof cleaning experience is needed. Full training will be provided.
What matters more to us is that you turn up, listen, take care in your work and can be trusted to get on with the job.
What you'll be doing
Your main job will be cleaning roofs.
A large part of the work involves controlling long telescopic cleaning poles over a roof while removing moss and dirt. This can be physically demanding, especially when holding and controlling a pole for long periods.
You'll need to work carefully around tiles, vents, flashing, pointing and other vulnerable areas.
The aim isn't just to get the roof clean. It's to get it clean while taking care of the customer's property.
You'll also be responsible for:
- Spotting hazards and potential problems before and during jobs.
- Following our cleaning and safety processes.
- Working from ladders and at height where required.
- Speaking politely and professionally with customers.
- Clocking in and out using our job software.
- Taking before, during and after photos.
- Completing job checklists properly.
- Keeping the customer's property clean and tidy.
- Cleaning and organising the van.
- Looking after tools and equipment.
- Letting us know if you spot damage or anything unusual while working.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and turns up when expected.
- Physically capable and comfortable with demanding work.
- Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at height and using ladders.
- Careful around customers' homes.
- Able to follow instructions and processes.
- Able to think ahead.
- Comfortable speaking with customers.
- Willing to learn and work as part of a small team.
A full UK driving licence is required.
Reliability is important
We're a small team, so one person not turning up can have a big impact on the day.
You need to be able to reliably get to our Felixstowe base and be ready to start work at 8:00am.
If you regularly oversleep, turn up late, cancel work at short notice or don't show up, this probably isn't the right job for you.
We also expect you to take care of the van and equipment. Some of the equipment we use is expensive and needs to be treated properly.
We don't expect you to never look at your phone, but while we're working, we expect you to be working rather than regularly stopping to check it.
What the work is actually like
This is physical, outdoor work.
You'll be on your feet for most of the day, moving equipment, climbing ladders and controlling cleaning poles. You'll sometimes get wet and dirty, and you'll be working outside in different weather conditions.
If you like practical work, being outdoors and seeing the difference you've made at the end of the day, you'll probably enjoy it.
Training
We'll teach you our cleaning process, how to safely use the equipment, how to control the cleaning poles, spot hazards and vulnerable areas, and how we expect each job to be completed.
We can teach you how to clean roofs.
What we need from you is reliability and a willingness to learn.
Getting to work
Our base is around one minute from Felixstowe train station and bus station.
You'll need to make your own way to our base each morning. From there, you'll travel to jobs with the team.
Interested?
Apply with a little bit about yourself, your previous work experience and why you think you'd be a good fit.
Please also confirm that:
- You have a full UK driving licence.
- You can reliably get to Felixstowe for an 8:00am start.
- You're comfortable with physically demanding outdoor work and working at height.
Pay: £150.00-£200.00 per day
Work Location: In person
