Uniserve is seeking a HGV Class 1 Driver to safely and efficiently deliver customer goods (5-6 deliveries per day) across multiple delivery locations while maintaining excellent service standards.
Salary: £41,791 annual
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday and willing to complete 2-3 overnight stays per week as required by the business
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant at all times
- Complete multi-drop deliveries and collections, typically 5-6 drops per day
- Deliver goods safely, securely, and in accordance with customer requirements
- Accurately complete all delivery documentation and use handheld devices where required
- Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time Directive, and Road Transport legislation
- Maintain communication with the traffic office regarding delivery progress, delays, or issues
- Secure loads correctly and carry out all required load checks during the journey
- Provide excellent customer service and act as a professional ambassador for the company
- Report vehicle defects, incidents, accidents, or near misses promptly
- Keep the vehicle clean and presentable
- Complete overnight stays (typically 2-3 nights per week) in line with operational requirements
- Compliance and Safety Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Comply with company policies, customer site rules, and industry regulations
- Ensure safe loading and unloading practices are followed at all times
- Wear appropriate PPE when required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) Licence
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous Class 1 driving experience
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network
- Strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regulations
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Desirable
- Multi-drop delivery experience
- Experience using telematics and electronic proof of delivery systems
- Forklift licence (if applicable)
