Our contribution to the Council’s aim of supporting independent living in the community is well recognised. We serve a diverse community in the heart of Pennine Lancashire, providing specialist equipment and adaptations, as part of the Independent Living Service - which also includes Moving and Handling, Major Adaptation Surveyors, Housing Officer, Telecare and Sensory Impairment teams.
If successful, your role will involve a range of key tasks that include:
- Community assessments and intervention planning.
- Joint working with social care, health, housing and third sector colleagues.
- Design of disabled adaptations in conjunction with our designated surveyors. Assessment for complex equipment – in particular specialist seating.
- Report writing for adaptation and special equipment panels.
- Re-housing advice and support.
- Adaptation check visits including outcome measures.
- Potential supervision of Assessment & Review Officers or other appropriate staff, dependent on experience.
- Support OT students in a practice educator role – training links with UCLAN and UOC.
- Participate in service development.
We are looking to appoint an Occupational Therapist with:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in either a hospital/community or health setting experience. Working with physical disabilities, across a range of specialities to join our team. This role offers the potential to develop within a specialist team gain competencies in the provision of specialist equipment, supervise an Assessment & Review Officer, undertake practice educator role with OT students and OT apprentices (training through a University offered) and support and participate in service development.
- OR an unique opportunity for a newly qualified OT to join our team. You will be supported during your transitional 1st year into practice by a designated programme of learning, offering ‘on the job training’, CPD time and regular supervision. This role offers the view to learn and develop in a specialist field within a role that is rewarding and dynamic.
The remuneration offered for the successful candidates with be appropriate to the level of experience you have.
