A growing managed service provider in the Harrogate/Knaresborough area is looking for a Technical Support Engineer with solid hands‑on networking experience. You’ll be the person who can confidently take on DHCP, DNS, routing, switching, VPN and firewall issues from day one. Server work and Microsoft 365/Entra/Intune can be taught internally — networking is the key skill they need immediately.
Why They’re Hiring
The support desk handles a steady flow of tickets, with 2nd line typically resolving around 10–20 per day. Two engineers currently take on most of the networking‑heavy work, and the business is adding another engineer to strengthen coverage and ensure clients get fast, confident support on traditional networking issues.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Taking ownership of 2nd line tickets escalated from 1st line
- Providing remote support to a mix of local and international clients
- Troubleshooting networking environments: DHCP, DNS, switching, routing, VPNs, firewalls
- Supporting on‑prem and virtual server environments (training provided)
- Learning and supporting Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune (training provided)
- Working closely with senior engineers on complex issues
- Keeping documentation and ticket notes clear and accurate
- Being part of a tight, office‑based team
What You Need
- Real hands‑on networking experience (not just theory)
- Solid 2nd line background within an MSP or IT services environment
- Strong troubleshooting ability across Windows and common business applications
- Confidence speaking directly with clients
- Ability to stay calm and organised when the desk gets busy
- Team‑focused attitude — this role is fully office‑based
- (Advanced Microsoft 365/Entra/Intune knowledge is a bonus but not essential.)
