Join our Oxford-based wheelchair-accessible vehicle service as a Booking and Dispatch Operator. In this role, you will be the main point of contact for our customers and drivers. You will take bookings over the phone, by email, and on our website, manage our automated booking system, and allocate jobs efficiently to our fleet using our software.
Key Responsibilities
A potential candidate is expected to:
- Answer incoming booking phone calls, taking accurate journey and passenger details including any special requests.
- Efficiently assign jobs on a daily basis to drivers using our dispatch software, minimizing wait times and maximizing driver and fleet productivity.
- Maintain clear communication with drivers and service renderers via email, WhatsApp, phone calls, and messaging to resolve any delays or changes in location or journey in real time.
- Schedule timed pickups for our private accounts traveling between cities and airports, noting and conveying any flight delays in a timely manner.
- Handle passenger complaints with respect, manage peak-hour demand, and adjust schedules smoothly during traffic delays or other unforeseen events.
Essential Requirements:
- Communication Skills: Clear spoken and written English with a polite, calm, and professional manner.
- IT Literacy: Comfortable using dispatch software, writing professional emails, and having an understanding of general computer programmes.
- Multitasking: Ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Punctuality & Reliability: Strong attendance record and flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and peak periods.
- Desirable: Strong local knowledge of Oxford and surrounding areas, paired with previous experience in taxi dispatch, call center, or customer service operations is a bonus.
These may be amended over time, by agreement between us. We may also ask you to carry out tasks or to take on responsibilities not set out here, but which it would be reasonable for us to expect of someone in your position.
