Overview
The Quality Assurance & Production Planner is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality products through effective quality control, production planning, stock management, and operational coordination. The role ensures that production schedules are achievable, raw materials are available when required, goods received and dispatched are accurate, and quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process.
This is a hands-on role requiring exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to ensuring that production planning, ordering, quality assurance, and stock control activities are completed accurately and efficiently at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
- Carry out quality checks on raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products to ensure compliance with customer and company specifications.
- Ensure all production specifications, batch records, and quality documentation are completed accurately and signed off before production begins.
- Monitor production processes to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved.
- Investigate quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints, supporting corrective and preventative actions.
- Maintain quality records and support internal and external audits.
- Promote a culture of quality throughout production and warehouse operations.
- Work to the BRC and GMP standards at all times and be a strong advocate within the team for standard success.
Production Planning & Control
- Assist in creating and maintaining production schedules in line with customer orders and sales forecasts.
- Ensure all raw materials, packaging, and production specifications are available prior to production runs.
- Monitor daily production plans and communicate any changes, delays, or material shortages.
- Track production performance against planned targets and identify potential issues before they impact delivery.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to schedules.
Purchasing & Materials Planning
- Monitor stock levels of raw materials and packaging.
- Raise purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers to ensure materials are delivered on time.
- Develop and maintain raw material requirements based on production plans and forecasts.
- Proactively identify potential shortages and implement actions to prevent production disruption.
Warehouse, Goods In & Goods Out
- Verify all incoming materials against purchase orders and quality requirements.
- Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded and traceable.
- Coordinate goods-in and goods-out activities to support production and customer delivery schedules.
- Assist with stock control, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy.
- Ensure products are correctly labelled, stored, picked, packed, and dispatched.
- Support efficient warehouse organisation and stock rotation.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, stock accuracy, and quality performance.
- Assist in updating procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation.
- Support the implementation of planning systems, stock management improvements, and operational best practices.
- Contribute to waste reduction and process improvement initiatives.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all company policies and health & safety requirements.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout production and warehouse areas.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of materials and finished products.
- Report hazards, quality concerns, and operational risks promptly.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in quality assurance, production planning, manufacturing, or stock control.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Good understanding of production processes and quality standards.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable
- Experience in using AI to improve excel document efficiencies
- Experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Knowledge of production planning and inventory control.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Practical experience using Generative AI tools to improve operational efficiency, planning accuracy, reporting, quality management, and administrative processes. If no previous experience, then a strong desire to learn is critical.

Pay: £26,500.00-£27,500.00 per year
