About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead Dental Nurse to join our University Dental Clinic team on a part-time basis. Working Monday to Wednesday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, you will lead and coordinate infection prevention and control activities across the hospital, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, staff wellbeing, and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will act as the clinics IPC lead, providing guidance, conducting audits, supporting staff training, and promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits of decontamination, hand hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and PPE compliance.
- Monitor and review infection prevention practices to ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice guidance.
- Deliver IPC training, induction, and updates for clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Support clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate audit records, reports, and action plans.
- Serve as a key point of contact for infection prevention and control advice within the university dental clinic.
Essential Requirements
- GDC-registered Dental Nurse.
- Proven experience within a dental or healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention and control principles.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience undertaking audits and monitoring compliance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Desirable Requirements
- Formal IPC qualification or willingness to undertake further training.
- Experience in a hospital or specialist dental setting.
- Experience delivering staff education and training.
- Knowledge of clinical governance and quality assurance processes.
