One Apprentice Position – Two Possible Career Paths
Are you interested in interiors and home styling, or do you have more of an interest in flooring, measuring and estimating?
We are a successful, family-run Curtain, Flooring & Interiors business looking for one enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice to join our growing team.
This is a varied retail sales and customer service role, with the opportunity to develop your career in the area that interests you most.
PATH 1 – Curtains, Blinds & Interior Design
If you're passionate about interiors, fabrics, colour, styling and creating beautiful spaces, you could develop your skills in our curtain and interiors department.
You will learn how to:
* Assist customers with curtains, blinds and interior furnishings
* Develop your knowledge of fabrics, colours and interior design
* Measure and estimate for curtains, blinds and window furnishings
* Attend customer home visits with experienced team members
* Prepare quotations and process orders
* Help customers choose products and create beautiful schemes for their homes
* Develop towards a career in interior design, window furnishings and estimating
PATH 2 – Flooring, Sales & Estimating
If you're more interested in flooring, technical measuring and working out quotations, you could develop your skills within our flooring department.
You will learn how to:
* Assist customers with carpets, vinyl, LVT, laminate and other flooring
* Learn about different flooring products and their applications
* Measure customers' homes and learn how to calculate quantities
* Prepare flooring estimates and quotations
* Attend customer home visits with experienced team members
* Develop your product knowledge and sales skills
* Learn about flooring installation and the technical side of the industry
* Develop towards a career in flooring sales, estimating and surveying
* Retail Sales – An Important Part of Both Roles
Whichever area interests you most, retail sales and customer service will be a key part of your role.
You will:
* Welcome customers into our showroom
* Understand customers' requirements and recommend suitable products
* Answer telephone and email enquiries
* Prepare quotations and process orders
* Organise deliveries and maintain accurate records
* Keep our showroom tidy, attractive and inspiring
* Build relationships with customers and develop your sales skills
Training & Career Development
You don't need to know which path you want to take straight away.
We will give you the opportunity to experience both sides of the business before developing your skills in the area that suits your interests and strengths.
You'll receive full training and support from our experienced team, including opportunities to learn:
* Measuring and estimating
* Curtains and window furnishings
* Flooring and floor preparation
* Interior design and colour schemes
* Quotations, orders and computer systems
* Retail sales and customer service
There is potential to develop into a specialist role in interior design, curtain and blind estimating, flooring estimating, sales or a combination of these areas.
The Role
Position: Sales & Design Apprentice
Location: Our showroom
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, Saturdays with a day off during the week.
Pay: £8.00 per hour
Driving Licence: Preferred, or willing to learn

We're looking for someone who is:

Previous experience isn't essential. We are much more interested in your attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

We are recruiting one Apprentice, but we're open to finding the right person whether their passion is curtains and interior design or flooring and estimating.
