About Mute Garage
Cities are congested, loud, and choked by outdated transport models - and we are here to rewrite the script! At MUTE Garage, we aren't just deploying electric mopeds; we are building the operational backbone of sustainable urban mobility. If you are an experienced hands-on tech who loves the smell of a workshop, knows how to keep a fleet moving, and isn't afraid to grab a wrench when it counts, this is your arena.
Role Overview
MUTE Garage is scaling its active urban electric moped fleet across London. We are looking for an operationally rigorous, highly technical Workshop Ops Manager to oversee our entire London footprint - managing current and future commercial hubs (our high-density operational centers where vehicles are stored, serviced, and dispatched), mobile repair teams, and rework units.
This isn't a desk job. You will own workshop throughput, multi-site efficiency, and health & safety compliance. Crucially, you are a master mechanic who will spend significant time on the tools, directly repairing e-mopeds, diagnosing complex faults, and writing the technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required to train and mentor our team to repair vehicles efficiently at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands-On Fleet Maintenance & Workshop Leadership: Actively spend significant time on the tools, directly executing complex e-moped repairs, battery diagnostics, and component swaps. Own fleet-wide vehicle uptime to meet baseline customer demand, surge periods, and daily operational needs.
- Technical Mentorship & SOP Creation: Write, maintain, and evolve clear technical SOPs and training materials. Directly mentor and upskill workshop mechanics and mobile repair units, instilling best-practice repair methodologies, safety protocols, and rapid turnaround workflows.
- Workshop Operations & Multi-Site Efficiency: Oversee operations across all current and future London workshop hubs and mobile units within the territory, managing rostering, localised payroll inputs, and daily workflows. Act as the technical escalation point for the customer service team, reviewing raised tickets to determine the best course of action.
- Supply Chain & Local P&L Ownership: Collaborate closely with senior leadership on parts planning, inbound delivery, and reverse logistics to minimise inventory bottlenecks. Take direct ownership of the local workshop and maintenance P&L, tracking repair costs, parts consumption, and labor efficiencies.
- Vehicle Lifecycle & Health & Safety: Manage the complete vehicle lifecycle: routine maintenance, MOT preparation, statutory licensing, quality control, and structured end-of-life / decommissioning processes. Ensure full adherence to UK H&S regulations, safe & clean working environments, risk assessments, and accident reporting.
Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of hands-on technical experience working directly with e-mopeds in the micro-mobility or automotive space, including workshop or fleet maintenance management.
- Technical Depth: Deep, practical knowledge of electric moped powertrains, controllers, battery management systems (BMS), and diagnostic tools, with a proven track record of training others.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated experience managing operational budgets, P&L lines, or supply chain logistics.
- H&S Competency: Practical understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and workshop compliance.
- Mindset: Highly organised, commercially minded, and comfortable balancing high-level strategy with hands-on problem-solving in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Licensing: Clean UK driving licence (essential for multi-site coordination and field support), clean criminal record, and full UK working rights.
Benefits & What We Offer
- Competitive Salary: £34,000 – £40,000 gross per annum.
- Personal Moped: Access to a company-maintained electric moped for personal commuting and leisure use (subject to clean license verification and company vehicle terms).

- Mission & Impact: Work alongside a global team of passionate innovators on the cutting edge of sustainable hardware and urban micro-mobility.
