The Role:
As a Supervising Social Worker, you will:
- Provide regular supervision, guidance, and support to foster carers
- Ensure high standards of care are maintained and in line with fostering regulations
- Support good matching of children with carers
- Attend and contribute to placement planning meetings, reviews, and statutory visits
- Deliver training and help develop carer knowledge and confidence
- Promote the welfare and positive outcomes of children in placement
- Be able to apply therapeutic theory and research to support families
- Be able to ensure high quality up to date records on the CHARMS IT system
- Provide preparation training for carers and children
- Be able to work well directly with the wider public, foster carers and young people
- Be able to produce clear, evidence based and analytical assessments
- Be able to support days out and events with children and families
- Be able to work as a team and support each other
About You:
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
- Registered with Social Work England
- Fostering or other work with children experience desirable
- Ideally with some knowledge and interest of PACE , trauma and attachment theories
- Strong positive communication skills with adults and children
- Ability to keep up to date with records within a fluctuating workload
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with carers, children, and professionals
- Passionate about improving the lives of children in care
- Must hold a full UK Driving Licence and have a vehicle
- Knowledge of Charms system would be beneficial
- Be willing and able to cover some of our out of hours on call rota

We are looking for a permanent team member and for a maternity cover post. The vacancy for maternity cover is for 13 months minimum . The appointees will be able to work at a figure between 24 and 37.5 hours per week depending on what is agreed at appointment by the applicant and the agency.
This post is open to newly qualified and experienced social workers. We offer ASYE within our agency. The salary will reflect your experience and knowledge.
