SMA Solicitors is an established and successful law firm specialising in Immigration Law.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Immigration Caseworker/Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. You will work closely with our immigration lawyers to support clients through various immigration matters, including visa applications, asylum cases, deportation cases and settlement applications.
You are expected to display fantastic research and communication skills. A successful candidate should be organised, professional and well informed. Top candidates will have remarkable interpersonal, excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
· Client Management: Conduct initial client consultations, gather necessary documentation, and maintain regular communication throughout the case.
· Case Preparation: Assist in preparing and submitting court bundles, visa applications, asylum claims, appeals, and other immigration-related legal documents.
· Legal Research: Conduct legal research on current immigration laws, regulations, and procedures.
· Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare witness statements, client and covering letters, and other legal documentation under the supervision of qualified solicitors.
· Liaising with Authorities: Communicate with the Court/Tribunals, Home Office and other relevant bodies to ensure the smooth progression of cases.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
· Experience: Prior experience in immigration law working as a paralegal/caseworker is necessary.
· Legal Knowledge: Solid understanding of UK immigration law, including visa categories, residency requirements, and asylum processes.
· Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately handle sensitive client information and manage multiple cases efficiently.
· Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and authorities.
· Education: A legal qualification such as a law degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent work experience in immigration law.
Desirable Skills:
- Languages: Proficiency in additional languages is highly desirable.
- Client-Focused: Ability to demonstrate empathy and provide excellent client care, especially to vulnerable individuals.
