About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and professional individual to join our team providing individual private pet cremation services. This is a unique role that requires sensitivity, empathy, and flexibility when supporting veterinary practices and bereaved pet owners during difficult times.
The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting deceased pets from veterinary surgeries and private residences, ensuring every pet is treated with the utmost dignity and respect throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect deceased pets from veterinary practices and pet owners' homes.
- Transport pets safely and respectfully for individual private cremation.
- Answer telephone enquiries from bereaved pet owners and veterinary practices.
- Provide compassionate and empathetic support to clients during difficult circumstances.
- Take paw prints and nose prints as memorial keepsakes.
- Prepare pets for cremation and maintain accurate identification procedures.
- Arrange and facilitate the collection of ashes by clients when required.
- Maintain excellent communication with veterinary practices and customers.
- Complete basic administration and record-keeping tasks.
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are kept clean and presentable.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within the pet cremation industry, funeral industry, veterinary sector, or a similar care-based environment.
- Own reliable vehicle and valid driving licence.
- Self employed
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Compassionate, caring, and professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and manage sensitive situations with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining identification procedures.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
Working Hours
This is an on-call position where you will need to be able to collect last minute and arranged times. There may be periods where no work is required; however, candidates must be willing and able to respond to collection requests at short notice and be available to attend collections promptly when contacted.
Due to the nature of the role, flexibility and reliability are essential.
