Hours: 37 hours per week. The role includes attendance at evening Council meetings and occasional weekend events. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the Council.
Salary: SCP14–SCP22 (dependent on experience)

Shepshed Town Council is seeking an experienced, motivated and highly organised Town Clerk (Proper Officer) to lead the Council's administration and support the delivery of high-quality services to the local community.
As the Council's Proper Officer and principal executive officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Council operates lawfully, effectively and efficiently. The role includes providing professional advice to elected Members, implementing Council decisions, leading and supporting staff, overseeing governance and democratic services, managing day-to-day operations, and working closely with the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO), partner organisations and the wider community.
The successful applicant will have experience of local council administration or a similar public sector environment, a sound understanding of local government governance and procedures, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities. The CiLCA qualification (or an equivalent recognised local council administration qualification) is essential, together with a commitment to providing high-quality public service and supporting the Council's strategic objectives.
The post is offered under the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) Model Contract and National Joint Council (NJC) Green Book terms and conditions, including membership of the Leicestershire Local Government Pension Scheme, generous annual leave entitlement, paid public and statutory holidays, additional annual leave after five years' continuous local government service, and access to training and professional development.
