Term Time only (39 week Working Contract paid over 52 weeks)**
**Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts of pay every month. Further information will be supplied at interview stage.**
Job Introduction
As an Assistant Cook for Sodexo at Beths Grammar School, Hartford Rd, Bexley DA5 1NE,you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day food and beverage operations within the school kitchen. You will help prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals while ensuring excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, and customer service. You'll take pride in presenting food in an appealing way and contributing to a welcoming dining experience for pupils and staff.
As well as this, you will not work unsociable hours and you will get public holidays off… including Christmas!

What you do:

Prepare, cook, present, and serve food to company standards, which may include breakfast, morning break, lunch, and hospitality.

Assist with food preparation and ensure meals are produced to a high standard.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Food Safety, Health and Safety, Allergen Awareness, COSHH, and HACCP regulations.

Ensure all service counters and food displays are clean, well-stocked, and presented to company standards.

Portion and serve food according to business requirements.

Complete daily and weekly cleaning duties as instructed by the line manager, including food preparation areas, storage areas, kitchen equipment, and communal catering areas.

Safely remove and dispose of waste from the catering area.

Receive, check, and correctly store deliveries following food safety procedures.

Deliver exceptionally high standards of customer service, cleanliness, tidiness, and operational efficiency.

Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure the smooth running of the catering service.
What you bring:
-
A minimum of 1 years of experience in hands on cooking, training on Food Hygiene, and Health & Safety will be given.
-
Must have expertise on cooking on a large scale, anywhere between 100 – 1300 students.

Have experience following recipes, possibly in a similar setting.

Have experience working with fresh produce and ingredients.

Be aware of the importance of adhering to health and safety procedures.

Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy Kitchen environment.

Be professional, leading by example and having a positive outlook is key.

Hold basic food handling skills certification
