Job Overview:
CHANNEL FM is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cleaning Supervisor to join our facilities management team. This role involves overseeing a team of 11 cleaners and collaborating closely with the caretaker to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership skills, excellent organisational abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management:
- Supervise and support a team of 11 cleaning staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and development as necessary.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate expectations, address concerns, and gather feedback to improve operations.
- Cleaning Operations:
- Oversee daily cleaning operations to ensure that all areas of the college, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas, are cleaned and maintained to prescribed standards.
- Develop and implement effective cleaning schedules and procedures that optimise efficiency and ensure all cleaning tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of cleaning areas to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and to identify any areas needing attention or improvement.
- Implement quality control measures and address any issues collaboratively with team members to ensure high standards are consistently met.
- Inventory Management:
- Manage cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring all items are stocked appropriately and used efficiently.
- Monitor and report any equipment maintenance needs or safety concerns to the management team.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the assistant caretaker to coordinate cleaning efforts with facility maintenance and events occurring at the college.
- Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and other departments regarding cleaning schedules and any disruptions to service.
- Safety Protocols:
- Ensure all cleaning staff adhere to health and safety regulations, including the proper use of equipment, handling of cleaning chemicals, and compliance with college safety policies.
- Provide training on safe working practices and emergency procedures to all cleaning staff.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within a cleaning or Facilities Management environment is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and support staff.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, health and safety regulations, and appropriate use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require early morning, evening, or weekend hours, depending on the cleaning schedule and college events.
- The role involves physical tasks, including lifting and moving cleaning equipment and materials.
