DevOps Network Engineer
About Us
Clix is a UK-based technology company. We are a small, close-knit team who build and run bespoke solutions for internal products and customer smart room controls. The kind of infrastructure that other companies depend on. Our stack is Linux-first: Digital Ocean, NUC PCs (RMS), Proxmox VMs, Docker containers and Ansible-driven CD pipelines via SemaphoreUI. There is no large network operations team here, just a tight group who know what they are doing and get on with it.
The Role
We are hiring a DevOps Network Engineer to work alongside our lead DevOps in managing and extending our infrastructure. This is not a junior role, you will be managing everything from VPN topology and firewall rules to Bitbucket and Ansible automation. You will collaborate closely with decision-makers. If you want to spend your career raising tickets and waiting for approval chains, this is not the role. If you want to take ownership of a real network and automate it properly, read on.
What You Will Do
- Architect and operate our VPN infrastructure (Pritunl) across multiple sites
- Write, maintain, and test Ansible playbooks for deployments
- Integrate network automation into our CI/CD pipeline (SemaphoreUI), so changes are version-controlled, tested, and deployed consistently
- Monitor network health, oversee incident response, and lead post-incident reviews
- Maintain clear topology documentation and runbooks
- Be part of the on call rota for issues, especially networking.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience with headless Ubuntu servers using CLI commands.
- Full understanding of Docker and Docker Compose
- Experience with Multi-site VPN management with Pritunl or Openvpn
- Have used Ansible at an infrastructure-as-code level: roles, handlers, semaphore
- Proficient in bash scripting for automation and tooling
- 5 years of relevant experience in network engineering or DevOps with a strong networking focus
- Experience with Cisco & Netgear switches
Nice to Have
- Proxmox VE experience (VM and LXC management, SDN, bridge networking)
- Awareness of RabbitMQ and Redis networking behaviour in containerised environments
- SemaphoreUI Experience
- Documentation habit: topology diagrams, runbooks, change logs
- CCNA or CompTIA Network+ certification
- Crestron Experience
