About the role
As demand for our services grows, we are seeking a freelance Swindon-based counsellor to join our team. You will share our passion of supporting families affected by addiction. This is a key role for someone who thrives in a purpose-led environment and wants to make a direct impact in the field of family addiction.
Committed to our Purpose, Vision, and Values, you will gain a good understanding of the organisation and be happy to work as part of the wider client support team. Your work will ensure Swindon families affected by addiction will receive the care and support that they need. You will undergo an enhanced DBS check and you will have your own public liability insurance.
Key responsibilities
· Providing in-person and online sessional counselling and support to adults and teenagers (aged 13-17) in the Swindon area
· Delivering interventions that will help clients to: a) deal with the emotional impact and effects of a loved-one’s addiction, b) develop coping strategies, c) gain acceptance of others’ choices, d) set and review realistic goals to support their own recovery and e) develop personal and life skills with the aim of attaining higher confidence and self-esteem
· Raising safeguarding issues promptly and in-line with policy and procedure
· Completing accurate, secure and GDPR compliant record keeping in line with FOL policies
· Participating in monthly supervision and team meetings as required
What we’re looking for
· A recognised Level 4 (minimum) counselling qualification
· A recognised qualification in counselling young people or relevant experience
· A minimum of 2 years’ post qualification counselling experience
· Experience of working within safeguarding procedures
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Good IT skills
· Strong time management and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
· An understanding of how addiction affects families
Pay: £26.00 per hour
