Painter / Blaster Onshore Worker
Job Summary
The Blaster / Painter Onshore Worker prepares, treats, and coats surfaces of structures, equipment, or pipelines at onshore locations. This role uses blasting and painting techniques to protect materials from corrosion, maintain quality standards, and ensure compliance with industry safety regulations. The role operates and maintains tools and equipment while following project requirements and safety procedures at all times.
Job Duties
- Inspect surfaces to determine preparation and painting requirements
- Set up and maintain containment, scaffolding, and equipment in work areas
- Remove old coatings, rust, and debris by using abrasive blasting, mechanical tools, or chemical cleaners
- Mix and prepare paint, coatings, and blasting media according to manufacturer specifications
- Apply primer, paint, or coatings by spray, brush, or roller in line with project standards
- Check finished surfaces for uniform coverage, thickness, and quality
- Repair or touch up coatings as needed
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas after use
- Follow safety procedures, including the use of protective clothing and equipment
- Monitor environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity, to ensure proper application
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, or potential problems to supervisors
- Complete records and documentation of work performed
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in industrial blasting and painting is required
- Knowledge of surface preparation, blasting, coating, and painting techniques is essential
- Ability to operate blasting and painting equipment safely
- Understanding of workplace safety practices and hazard identification
- Ability to follow instructions, read work plans, and comply with technical specifications
- Physical strength and stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, and work in various weather conditions
- Attention to detail and strong manual skills
- Willingness to use personal protective equipment at all times
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly with others
- High school or secondary school education is preferred
- Certification or documented training in industrial painting or blasting is an advantage
