About the role
Ready to lead paediatric care on the ward and shape how care is delivered day to day? You will work as an accountable practitioner within the inter professional team, delivering high quality care to children, young people and their families. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, co ordinate shifts and lead the nursing team in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. Using advanced clinical and analytical skills, you will care for high dependency patients, including CPAP, interpret results and respond to acute conditions, working closely with medical staff and contributing to discharge planning.
This role gives real scope to lead, influence and grow. Drawing on your experience, you will set and monitor standards of care, guide the team through supervision and mentorship, and build junior staff confidence as key workers. You will drive evidence based practice through clinical audit and action plans, contribute to shared guidelines and improve working practices across the ward. Alongside visible clinical leadership, there is the opportunity to develop a self identified specialist area within paediatrics, promote therapeutic play and champion safe practice, safeguarding and infection control, keeping every child’s best interests at the centre of care.
