Elephant is a neighbourhood restaurant and bar on Lower Clapton Road, Hackney. We’re looking for a Server / Runner to join our small, hands-on team.
We’re after someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality, someone warm, switched-on and naturally good with people. You don’t need years of experience, but you do need energy, reliability and a willingness to get stuck in.
Friday and Saturday availability is essential. These are our busiest services, so we’re looking for someone who can reliably be part of the team on both evenings. The role is up to 20 hours per week, with additional weekday shifts available where required.
What you’ll be doing
- Welcoming guests and helping create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere from the moment they arrive.
- Running food and drinks quickly and confidently during busy services.
- Taking orders and communicating clearly with both guests and the kitchen.
- Keeping tables, the bar and service areas clean, organised and looking sharp.
- Supporting the team wherever needed, we’re a small operation, so everyone gets involved.
- Helping with opening and closing duties.
- Handling guest requests with a calm, personable approach.
- Supporting events, private bookings and special services when required.
- Learning our food, drinks and wine offering so you can speak about them confidently.
- Most importantly, being someone the rest of the team can rely on when service gets busy.
Who we’re looking for
Experience in hospitality is great, but personality and attitude matter more.
You’ll ideally be:
- Friendly, confident and comfortable talking to guests.
- Fast on your feet and able to keep your head when things get busy.
- Naturally attentive without being overbearing.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Happy working as part of a small team where everyone pitches in.
- Interested in food, drink and hospitality.
- Comfortable working late-night restaurant and bar services.
- Available to work Fridays and Saturdays consistently.
