SEND Teaching Assistant
Sense Education are looking for a caring, patient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Leeds, supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs.

About the school
The school is a specialist setting supporting pupils aged 2-19, with every pupil having an EHCP. Pupils have a diverse range of needs, including Autism, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex medical and physical needs.
The school places children and young people at the heart of everything it does, with a strong focus on ensuring every pupil receives an education that reflects their individual needs and strengths.
Learning isn’t limited to the classroom or academic achievement. The school places real importance on communication, independence, wellbeing and life skills, helping pupils develop the skills and confidence they need for adulthood and life beyond school.
About the role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll:
· Support pupils with a range of SEND needs, helping them access learning in a way that works for them
· Build positive, trusting relationships and provide a calm, reassuring presence
· Support learning through practical, sensory and play-based activities
· Encourage pupils to develop their communication, confidence and independence
· Follow individual routines and adapt your approach to each pupil’s needs
· Celebrate the small wins and everyday progress that make such a difference
· Work closely with teachers and the wider team to create a positive and supportive learning environment
Qualifications & Requirements
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Role Type: Full Time/ Part Time/ Temp – Perm
Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour
Working Hours
Term-time only
Monday – Friday
8.30am – 3.30pm
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Pay: £14.60-£16.90 per hour
