About the Role
The Field Operations Director is accountable for the strategic leadership, operational performance and long-term development of IMSERV's field delivery function. The role is also responsible for defining and executing the operational strategy, ensuring safe, efficient and commercially sustainable delivery of services while enabling business growth, customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Responsibilities

Shape and execute IMSERV's long-term Field Operations strategy, ensuring capability, capacity, technology and operating models are aligned to the organisation's strategic objectives, customer commitments and growth ambitions.

Provide strategic leadership to anticipate future market, regulatory and customer requirements, translating emerging trends into actionable operational plans and competitive advantage.

Develop, own and deliver a multi-year Field Operations roadmap, establishing clear priorities, investment plans and transformational initiatives that drive sustainable business performance.

Serve as the executive lead for Field Operations, influencing business strategy and representing operational priorities at senior leadership level to ensure alignment with wider organisational goals.

Provide strategic oversight and governance for end-to-end field service delivery across the customer lifecycle, ensuring safe, compliant, efficient and customer-centric operations.

Lead a geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary field workforce through senior leadership teams, creating an environment of accountability, empowerment and high performance.

Establish and maintain a scalable operating model capable of meeting current and future demand while delivering industry-leading standards of productivity, quality and customer experience.

Hold full accountability for Field Operations financial performance, delivering budgetary control, cost optimisation, profitability improvements and sustainable value creation.

Lead strategic supplier and partner relationships, ensuring effective governance, commercial performance, risk management and value delivery across the extended supply chain.

Champion a culture of safety, accountability, inclusion and operational excellence, ensuring these principles are embedded throughout all aspects of the field organisation.

Sponsor continuous improvement and transformation programmes that improve productivity, service quality, customer outcomes and operational sustainability.

Develop future leadership capability within the field organisation through succession planning, talent development and organisational capability building.
What you'll need
Knowledge & Qualifications
-
Good standard of education with GSCE English and Math or equivalent (Grade C equivalent or higher).

Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook and PowerPoint

IOSH Level 2 (*)

NEBOSH General Certificate (*)
-
City & Guilds Level 3 in appropriate engineering course (*)

Must hold a Valid UK Driving License
Skills
-
Exceptional knowledge of the metering industry

Sound commercial and financial awareness
- Knowledge of health and safety management and quality management systems
- Report writing skills / Field project management skills
- Ability to coach, mentor, and support direct reports and peer managers

Good communication skills, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with people at all levels.

Excellent attention to detail.

Have a pragmatic approach to problem solving using initiative and tenacity to succeed.

Ability to work in a complex environment with conflicting demands and to make clear and consistent decisions.
Experience
-
Previous experience of working with SMEs with turnover between £20-£100M (*)
-
Proven previous experience within a Field Based Operational Leadership role
- Proven experience in embedding new initiatives across multi-region operations

Knowledge and experience of managing Health and Safety in Field Service environment.
- Significant Utility (Gas/Electricity) experience

Mobile/Home based working - able to travel and work away from home as required within your allocated region of the UK.
