Overview
We are seeking a motivated Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic team. This role involves supporting the efficient movement, storage, and management of materials within our warehouse facility. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining safety standards, and upholding quality control throughout all warehouse activities. Prior warehouse experience is preferred, along with a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in materials handling, shipping and receiving, and warehouse management systems.
Responsibilities
- Handling materials efficiently, including picking, packing, and stocking items to meet daily operational demands
- Operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and effectively (training provided)
- Managing shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
- Utilising warehouse management systems to track inventory levels, update records, and manage stock movements
- Loading and unloading lorries with heavy or bulky items while adhering to health and safety guidelines
- Conducting quality control checks to ensure products meet specified standards before dispatch
- Assisting with mechanical maintenance or troubleshooting equipment when necessary
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse operations or materials handling preferred
- Ability to operate forklift trucks (certification is advantageous but not essential; training can be provided)
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems or similar software applications
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks throughout the shift
- Mechanical knowledge or aptitude for understanding equipment functions is desirable
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in stock management and quality control processes
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced environment
