An excellent opportunity has arisen to join North Yorkshire Council’s Early Help Service in Hambleton and Richmond as a Children and Families Support Workers. This involves working in partnership to deliver a wide range of interventions and support to parents, carers, children, young people and their families to improve outcomes.
About the service
The successful candidates will join an established team, supervising court directed contacts for children and families open to Children’s Social Care and delivering group sessions to children and parents. These sessions often involve transporting children to and from mulitple locations.
It also includes direct work with children, young people and their families to understanding and strategies for areas such as early speech and language, wellbeing, parenting and healthy relationships. You will also work closely with the community and voluntary sectors to identify partnership ways of working to improve outcomes for Children and their families.
About the role
The successful candidates will have experience of working directly with vulnerable children or young people and their families. Due to the nature of the service delivery the role will include working early evenings with occasional weekends. The hours and days to be discussed at the interview.
Candidates must be highly focussed, committed, and adaptable individuals who have an aptitude to work in a fast-paced environment and have good organisational and communication skills.
The role in Hambleton and Richmond would be based at the Children and Family Hub at Thirsk Children’s Centre and is a full-time position. Although based in a specific location, you will be required to work across the North Yorkshire district.
The role will also involve supporting colleagues across other areas and travel further afield where necessary to support children and families. While not an essential requirement listed in the job description, access to a car would significantly support your ability to carry out the role effectively, given the nature of the work. North Yorkshire Council supports Hybrid way of working.
Although this role is advertised for the Hambleton and Richmond location, please do specify on your application if you would be interested in working in one of our other areas across the County, e.g. Selby, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale.
It is an exciting time in Children and Young Peoples Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and how we will be responding to the social care reforms. Work is underway to plan our approach and implementations for 2027. As a result of this, some realignment may happen with job roles in the future, we want to be transparent about this in respect of this role.
