Kitchen Assistant – Calvo Loco Exmouth
Full-Time / Part-Time | £12.50–£13.00 per hour + Tronc/Tips | Exmouth
Calvo Loco is coming to Exmouth, and we’re looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join the team at our brand-new tapas bar.
This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to get into hospitality and learn to cook professionally.
The role will initially be focused mainly on kitchen porter duties, keeping the kitchen clean, organised and running smoothly. However, we don't want someone to be stuck on the pot wash forever.
You'll be trained across other areas of the restaurant, including food running, basic food preparation and cooking, with the opportunity to progress into a fully trained member of our kitchen team.
What you'll be doing
- Washing up and keeping the kitchen clean and organised
- Supporting chefs during busy services
- Receiving and putting away deliveries
- Basic food preparation
- Learning our dishes and kitchen sections
- Food running and helping get dishes to tables
- Learning basic cooking during quieter services and training shifts
- Following food hygiene and safety procedures
Progression
We're looking for someone who wants to learn.
You'll start by becoming confident with the day-to-day running of the kitchen before gradually being trained in food preparation and cooking.
For the right person, the goal is progression from:
Kitchen Assistant → Kitchen Trainee → Commis Chef → Chef
Previous kitchen experience is helpful, but not essential. Attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are much more important.
