Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Workshop Assistant to join our team of skilled employees. In this role, you will play an important part in supporting daily workshop operations, ensuring that all projects and tasks are completed efficiently and safely. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on skills (including glazing, leaded light making, traditional window refurbishment etc), work with a variety of tools and equipment, and contribute to a collaborative environment focused on craftsmanship and traditional skills. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, polite, eager to learn, own transport, a good time keeper and possesses a strong work ethic.
Duties
- Carrying out general and semi skilled taks at our workshop
- Learning a range of new skills associated with the repair and refurbishment of traditional timber and metal windows
- Learn the skills involved in leaded light making with a potential to become a trainee
- Use hand tools and power tools to support repair, refurbishment and fitting tasks
- Follow detailed instructions to acomplish refurbishment, glazing and other tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workshop area, including tool storage and workbenches
- Adhere to safety protocols at all times, including proper handling of tools and equipment
Qualifications
- Basic practical knowledge, with an interest in learning more about the repair, refurbishment, glazing and fitting of traditional windows
- Experience using hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammer, pliers, tape measure etc.
- Familiarity with power tools such as cordless drills or grinders is preferred but not required
- Previous experience in a workshop is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions precisely
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities

Pay: £25,420.00-£39,520.00 per year
