In-House Operator

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (DOE) plus benefits
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading global manufacturer for an In-House Operator to provide on-site operational and technical support at a customer's manufacturing facility in March, Cambridgeshire.
This is a hands-on role supporting production through the effective management of ink dispensing, stock control, colour management, and technical support. Working closely with production teams, you'll help ensure materials are available when required, maintain accurate inventory records, and contribute to consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.
This opportunity would suit someone with experience in the printing, ink, coatings, packaging or manufacturing industries who enjoys working independently in a customer-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
- Dispense materials in line with daily production requirements.
- Move materials to and from production machines where required.
- Book production returns into the dispensing management system.
- Organise and store returned materials in designated locations.
- Rework returned materials where appropriate to minimise waste.
- Consolidate returned materials into common production colours.
- Place weekly material orders to maintain stock availability.
- Book incoming deliveries into the dispensing management system.
- Update inventory records and replenish stock within the system.
- Coordinate the collection of empty containers and waste materials, ensuring safe handling and storage.
- Maintain delivery documentation for monthly stock reconciliation.
Technical & Quality Support
- Maintain digital colour databases and production recipes.
- Update colour management software with new and existing standards.
- Support basic colour correction and troubleshooting activities on production equipment.
- Record and report non-conformance issues, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Comply with all site health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the work area.
- Ensure work practices support the site's hygiene and quality accreditation requirements.
- Carry out basic maintenance of dispensing equipment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience working within an ink, printing, coatings, packaging or similar manufacturing environment.
- Excellent colour recognition and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A methodical, organised and proactive working style.
- The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- The ability to travel independently to the site.
Working Hours
- Initial training: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00
- Following training: Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 18:00
