Main purpose
Fixmart is a growing B2B distributor of fixings and fastenings, supplying trade customers across London and the South East. We are bringing more delivery routes in-house and need additional drivers to join our transport team. You will be the on-site face of the company at customer delivery points, so a professional manner and a good standard of spoken and written English are essential.
Hours and pay
● £14.50 per hour, flat rate
● 8 paid hours per day, plus a 1 hour unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday
● 40 guaranteed paid hours per week, giving £580 per week guaranteed
● Overtime is a requirement of the role when delivery volumes demand it, paid at the same flat rate of £14.50 per hour
● Deliveries are weighted to the morning, so a normal day starts early and often finishes earlier than a traditional long-day round, with overtime worked on the busier days
Key responsibilities
● Deliver a wide range of products across multiple postcodes
● Follow the planned route and meet the delivery schedule
● Return undelivered items and collect customer returns
● Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate a delivery vehicle
● Complete daily vehicle safety checks
● Work in line with DVSA rules, the Highway Code and company safety standards
● Present professionally in the Fixmart uniform, which is provided
● Report to the Transport Manager or Transport Supervisor
● Report any complaints, issues or infringements as soon as they occur
● Communicate with the sales team on failed deliveries
● Provide excellent service to every customer
Skills and experience
● Full, clean manual UK driving licence
● Able to lift heavy packages safely
● Willing to complete an alcohol and drug test on request
● Strong communicator, both verbal and written
● Works with integrity and maintains confidentiality
● Well organised with good attention to detail
● Reliable, hard working and focused
● Good knowledge of London and South East postcodes
● Previous multi-drop van delivery experience, 1 year preferred
● Experience with route planning software, particularly MaxOptra, an advantage
● Experience in construction or HVAC, and familiarity with working on construction sites, an advantage
● Supportive of the company's values and ways of working
● Team player
● Willing to undertake Health and Safety training as required
● Eyesight test every 2 years

● An in-person interview and 30-minute test drive at our Northfleet site, including a drugs test on the day
● If you attend the in-person test drive and are not successful, we will reimburse your reasonable travel expenses
