About the Role
Hiring a Planning Engineer or an ambitious Assistant Planning Engineer to join a new start up project controls consultancy. You will support and lead scheduling, program management, and delay analysis on engineering and construction projects.
Note: It is not required to have every single skill listed below on day one. If you are missing experience in specific areas, such as QSRA or delay analysis, mentorship will be provided to develop you into a fully rounded expert.
Key Responsibilities
- Master Scheduling: Develop and maintain logic-linked project schedules from first principles.
- Software Management: Execute schedule updates seamlessly in Asta Powerproject and Primavera P6.
- Contract Administration: Manage programs in line with Standard Forms of Contract (specifically JCT and NEC3/NEC4).
- Change & Delay Analysis: Assess compensation events, impact new logic, and identify critical path shifts.
- Risk Modeling: Support or lead Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) to quantify timeline uncertainties.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Present clear progress, variance, and risk reports to client and internal teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Software Skills: Hands-on experience using Asta Powerproject or Primavera P6 (or a strong foundation in one with a willingness to learn the other).
- Contractual Awareness: Working knowledge of NEC contracts and their program submission mechanisms.
- Analytical Mindset: An understanding of delay analysis methodologies or a keen interest in learning forensic planning.
- Industry Background: Prior planning experience within civil engineering or construction. Assistant-level candidates with strong transferable project controls experience are highly encouraged to apply.
- Education: Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable Skills (Training Provided if Missing)
- Forensic Capability: Proven track record in detailed forensic delay analysis.
- Risk Analysis: Practical experience conducting QSRA using specialized risk software (e.g., Safran, Primavera Risk Analysis, Acumen).
Pay: £30,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
