Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Balustrade & Decking Fitter (we are also happy to train & support an applicant looking to moving from a similar construction background) to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing high-quality balustrades and decking structures that enhance safety, aesthetics, and functionality for residential and commercial projects. Your expertise will help bring outdoor spaces to life, ensuring each installation meets precise specifications and safety standards. Responsibilities
- Measure and mark out installation sites accurately according to project plans and schematics
- Fit and secure balustrades, handrails, decking boards, posts, and supports using appropriate hand tools and power tools
- Read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to ensure precise installation
- Fabricate custom components on-site or in the workshop as needed, utilising welding, carpentry, or fabrication skills
- Prepare surfaces through construction painting or masonry techniques to ensure a smooth finish before installation
- Use roofing, carpentry or masonry skills when required for integrated structural elements
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction practices including carpentry, masonry, roofing, welding, electrical work and fabrication
- Proficiency with hand tools such as saws, drills, chisels, levels, and measuring devices
- Experience operating power tools safely and effectively in a construction setting
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately for precise installations
- Familiarity with construction painting techniques for finishing touches
- Knowledge of building codes and safety standards relevant to outdoor structures
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly on-site for unexpected challenges
