We are looking for a self-motivated and flexible individual to join our busy dispensary team. You will be a qualified dispenser with a relevant NVQ Level 2.
Main duties will include processing and dispensing of prescriptions. Providing an efficient and friendly service for our dispensing patients.
Contributing to an effective re-ordering service for repeat medications. Placing orders with suppliers, receiving stock deliveries and ensuring appropriate storage is maintained.
Working in line with SOPs and protocols and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
The ability to remain calm under pressure;
A flexible approach and commitment to accommodate the needs of the service;
Experience using SystmOne, but as a minimum will have at least one year of recent experience in a relevant patient/healthcare focused environment eg community pharmacy or GP Dispensary.
A strong attention to detail.
Hours: 18 hours over 2 days Thursdays and Fridays. Ability to work between 8am and 6 pm is essential. It is also essential that the post holder will have flexibility to support the Dispensary team to cover all planned holiday, along with sickness cover which can sometimes be at short notice.

You will have excellent organisational and communication skills. You will also have the ability to work effectively both independently and with the existing team.
You must have:
- A nationally recognised NVQ Level2 in Dispensary Services;

The following are the core responsibilities of this role:
a. To be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepancies, as per prescription.
b. Dispensing medicines to the entitled population safely and accurately
c. Collecting prescription charges and patient signatures
d. in accordance with dispensary protocol
e. Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary to agreed levels
f. Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, including stock rotation, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable
g. Conduct stocktakes and agree with management and the team of the frequency.
h. Work closely with senior partner and clinicians to maximise profitability
i. Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed and disposed of, in accordance with practice policy
j. Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medicines
k. Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within a 72-hour timeframe
l. Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters
m. Process prescription requests via email, phone, face-to-face and online
n. Daily recording of fridge temperatures
o. Preparation of monthly returns
p. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times
q. Maintain accurate records at all times
r. Collection and accurate processing of all monies received
s. Share the provision of cover during absences within the team in a fair way, following internal process
t. Fully observe legal requirements relevant to the dispensing practice and HA regulations and controlled drugs
u. Ensure that all drug safety alerts and notices are acted upon in a timely manner
v. To go through prescriptions monthly “not picked up” and “unlikely to be picked up” to remove the details from the patient records and then destroy the prescription
