- Primarily responsible for a portfolio of complex Reinsurance Treaty Claims from business predominantly underwritten in London and Zurich, including ‘Alternative Solutions’, particularly to ensure
- the adequateness and accuracy of reserves
- that claim payments are only made if coverage under the reinsurance treaties is given and amounts are appropriate
Evaluating, developing, reporting on and resolving complex and/or higher value individual claims, ensuring Underwriters are advised of any contractual/legal issues
Approving financial transactions on claims within his/her authority

Deliver on the division’s annual audit/review plan both locally and on major accounts, to support the underwriting and actuarial reserving process.

Collaborating and assisting in account management, including the regular engagement with clients, often working alongside other senior internal stakeholders
Analyse loss and expense trends on loss portfolios and assist in the development and implementation of plans to improve results
Work effectively with others within the Claims department, particularly with other Claim Experts and those staffing the Claim administration unit, to ensure prompt turnaround and response to clients
Work closely and effectively with other internal stakeholders including Underwriters and Actuarial, providing support and insight when required and appropriate
Maintain regular contact with clients and brokers under the guidance of Head of UK and ME&A Treaty Claims
Liaise and support the claims departments in other SCOR EMEA hubs/branches as required and appropriate
Keep abreast of claim and industry developments/trends to maintain a high level of expertise
Collaborate and assist in account management, often with other internal department representatives including Underwriters, TA (Technical Accounting), Pricing and Reserving Actuaries
Assist in broad analysis of the claims portfolio, including monitoring of potential exposures (‘watchlist’) and reviewing appropriateness of historical reserves (‘statics’)
Review clauses and wordings in co-operation with Underwriting and the Legal Department
Keep abreast of claims and industry developments/trends in order to maintain a high level of expertise
Demonstrate commitment for achieving team objectives and plan and adjust work activities accordingly
Coach, mentor and assist in the training of more junior claim staff where appropriate and when instructed
Participate in projects as required
