Civils Utility Team (2-Person Crew) – Openreach Network
Locations: Greater London Areas & South
Coast Position: Self-Employed / Subcontract
Rate: Day rate (Discussed upon application)
About the Role We are seeking experienced, self-employed 2-Person Civils Teams (Lead Ganger and Operative/Labourer) to carry out civils and cabling works across the Openreach telecom network covering London and South Coast regions.
Options are available for sub-teams operating with their own van and tools, or for teams requiring a company van and kit provided.
Key Responsibilities Carry out daily civils operations including trenching, duct laying, blockage clearance, core drilling, and reinstatement.
Set up and maintain compliant street works sites in accordance with NRSWA standards across urban and suburban network routes.
Use CAT & Genny locators, interpret utility plans, and follow safe digging practices. Work efficiently as a 2-person unit to deliver daily site production targets safely.

Lead Ganger:
NRSWA Full Operative Card (Street Works)
SA006: Safe Working in Civils
Q020: Duct Blockages
Q021: Duct Laying 1
K008: Hand Rodding in Underground
Q019 / CD1 Network Core Drilling Competency
Full UK Driving License
Clean Basic DBS Check (No unspent criminal records)
Labourer / Operative:
SA006: Safe Working in Civils
NRSWA Unit O1: Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Clean Basic DBS Check (No unspent criminal records)
Package & Setup Pay: Competitive self-employed day rate (negotiable based on experience and setup).
Locations Covered: Greater London and South Coast.
Equipment: Flexible arrangements Team with own Van & Tools OR Van & Tools provided.
Workload: Steady, long-term pipeline of work.
