- An auto-enrolment pension scheme, with a generous employer contribution
- University Staff Counselling Service
The Role
As a Research Associate, you will support the work of the Cambridge Positive Peace Education (CPPE) Hub, an innovative research project that aims to build capacity for positive peace education globally, informed by research across diverse regional and national contexts.
You will have two main areas of responsibility: undertaking, in collaboration with research team members, cross-national comparative research on peace education priorities, practices and outcomes across four international settings; and providing support and guidance (e.g. on project planning, research design and use of peace education tools) to practitioner-researchers in up to four action research projects. Research activities will be conducted via a combination of online and in-person methods, including undertaking interviews, questionnaires and arts-based research, coordinating meetings, seminars and workshops, and analysing data and writing up research for publications and presentations.
Additionally, you will:
- Contribute to planning and delivery of meetings, workshops and seminars related to the research programme
- Write up research work for presentations and publications, including academic papers, practice briefings and other outputs as required
- Support the development and ongoing activities of an international peace education network
The CPPE Hub seeks to develop a Positive Peace Education Framework and AI-powered digital peace education platform, piloted through four action research projects internationally. In parallel, the Cambridge research team will undertake cross-case research to build a broader evidence base on experiences of peace and conflict in education, informing the further development of positive peace education tools and the digital platform.
About You
- A doctoral degree in a subject relevant to this post (e.g., peace education research)
- Experience of conducting qualitative and/or mixed-methods research in UK-based or international contexts
- Evidence of publishing and disseminating research
- Proven experience of organising research workshops and seminars
- Proven experience of research administration (e.g. setting up meetings and interviews, contributing to co-ordination of research groups/networks)
- Evidence of successfully working in collaboration with research team members
- Knowledge of peace education theory and research
- Proven ability to support and mentor emerging practitioner-researchers
It would also be beneficial if you have experience of conducting participatory research or action research and of using digital education platforms.
