Teaching Assistant – Secondary School
Location: Ipswich
Pay: £13.00 - £14.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)
About the Role
We are recruiting enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming secondary school in Ipswich.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support students in their learning and development, helping them to build confidence, achieve their academic goals and reach their full potential. Whether you have previous school experience or transferable skills from care, youth work or mentoring, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assisting teachers with delivering engaging lessons and classroom activities
- Providing additional support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) where required
- Encouraging positive behaviour, participation and engagement in lessons
- Helping students develop confidence, independence and organisational skills
- Supporting students both inside and outside the classroom
- Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support student progress
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment
Requirements
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive, patient and adaptable approach
- Reliable, punctual and committed
- Able to work Monday to Friday during term time
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (or already registered on the DBS Update Service)
Desirable Experience
We welcome applicants with experience in:
- Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant (LSA) roles
- Secondary school settings
- SEN support
- Youth work or mentoring
- Care or support work
- Coaching or working with young people
- Supporting students with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia or other additional learning needs
Desirable Qualifications
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- CACHE Supporting Teaching and Learning
- Qualifications in Education, Childcare, Psychology or Health & Social Care
