Junior Product Design Engineer
Our company designs and produces the finest furniture and ironmongery in the world. We have seen a significant rise in special projects and standard projects which has put increased demand on the design department. We are therefore looking to expand the department.
We require a junior product design Engineer who will work with the engineering team to develop products using CAD, generate manufacturing technical drawings and prototype, while maintaining accurate data in the ERP system for both new and existing components and products.
The ideal candidate will be detail-obsessed, self-motivated, and a good problem solver, a large portion of the role will be working on our signature projects and the remaining portion on longer term new standard products.
Duties
-CAD 3D file generation, 2D technical drawings and configuration management using Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
-Adding and editing components and assemblies inside the ERP system.
-Assisting the engineering team with the day-to-day objectives.
-Liaising with manufacturing, purchasing and other areas of the business to maintain the CAD file and drawing database.
-Designing and engineering bespoke products to fulfil Special projects based on customers ideas. Fast pace, quick turnaround projects as well as new standard products.
-Design to specific requirements, including DFM, DFA, DFC, DFMEA and PPAP.
-BOM Creation.
-Documents and spreadsheet creation.
-Work to dedicated processes and procedures.
-First article engineering quality review.
-Tolerance Analysis and CTQ, GD&T.
Qualifications & technical experience:
Required:
-Product design or engineering qualification (or real-world experience in a related field).
-2 years of experience using Inventor or SolidWorks, (not just university work).
-Experience producing technical drawings and 3D models for real-world manufacture.
-Experience managing CAD parts and assemblies using data-management software like Autodesk Vault or similar.
-Experience using Microsoft products, Word, Excel, Publisher, Office, Teams.
-Experience with ERP systems.
Preferred:
-Experience or working knowledge of a range of manufacturing techniques and materials.
-Experience or working knowledge of practical mechanics.
-Experience within Ironmongery – not essential but good to have.
-Experience on working with face pace, quick turnaround projects.
-Knowledge of creating tolerance analysis reports.
Skills:
-Perfectionism and attention to detail in both CAD work and folder structuring.
-Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions.
-Proactive attitude.
-Good mental maths and spelling.
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
