We have an exciing opportunity to join our Perinatal service within Cardiff and Vale. As a band 6 Occupational Therapist you will provide specialist assessment and intervention for women experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy and the first postnatal year.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will support recovery, promote engagement in meaningful daily activities and parenting roles, and help improve outcomes for mothers, babies, and families through evidence-based occupational therapy practice.
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with excellent communication skills to work as part of our team.
The post holder will:
Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments for women experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
Develop, implement and evaluate person-centred treatment plans to promote recovery, wellbeing, and participation in meaningful occupations.
Support women in developing skills and confidence in parenting, self-care, daily routines, community engagement, and vocational roles.
Manage and prioritise a defined caseload, undertaking risk assessment and risk management as required.
Deliver individual and group-based occupational therapy interventions using evidence-based practice.
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and liaise with statutory, voluntary and third-sector agencies to ensure coordinated care.
Provide advice, education and support to families, carers and other professionals.
Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to clinical governance, service evaluation and quality improvement activities.
Participate in supervision, continuing professional development, student education and the promotion of occupational therapy within the Perinatal Mental Health Service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and /or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
