At Q Care, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to live independently, feel heard and achieve the things that matter to them.
We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate Sensory Support Manager to lead our Supporting People Team in Gloucestershire.
You’ll work alongside a dedicated team providing community-based support to adults with sensory loss, helping people achieve their goals and aspirations while maintaining their independence and living life on their own terms.
This is more than a management role. You’ll be a key part of a team that works every day to create positive, meaningful change in people’s lives.
If you’re an experienced manager who enjoys working with people, building relationships and making a genuine difference, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
As Sensory Support Manager, you’ll lead and support a team of Support Workers while also maintaining your own caseload. Your role will include:

- Monitoring staff workloads to make sure people receive effective, consistent support.
- Managing your own caseload and providing direct support where appropriate.
- Leading, motivating and supporting a team of Support Workers working with people with sensory loss.
- Recruiting, inducting and training new team members.
- Organising ongoing training and making sure the team’s knowledge and skills remain up to date.
- Holding regular supervisions, appraisals and team meetings.
- Monitoring timesheets, expenses, annual leave and sickness records to support accurate payroll and KPI reporting.
- Attending internal meetings and working closely with external agencies and partner organisations.
- Monitoring and reviewing the quality of services we provide, listening to the people we support and identifying opportunities to improve.
- Providing regular reports and updates to your line manager.
- Taking responsibility for the review and KPI process for GCC, including timely reporting and attending meetings with commissioners.
- Supporting people to maintain and develop their independence.
- Completing risk assessments and working alongside people to create personalised support plans that reflect their goals.
- Helping people access information and support around areas such as benefits, budgeting, debt management, training and health.
- Acting as an advocate and ensuring people’s voices are heard.
- Liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies and signposting people to appropriate services.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is confident leading a team but, just as importantly, genuinely enjoys working with people.
You’ll need:
- British Sign Language (BSL) as a native user or to Level 2.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes, as regular travel across Gloucestershire is required.
- Excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in getting to know people.
- To be a great listener who gives people their full attention and understands how to provide the right support.
- The ability to work independently, manage your own workload and use your time effectively.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to record and communicate important information accurately and within required timescales, in line with GDPR.
- A willingness to learn, develop and keep building your skills and knowledge.
- Experience of supporting and managing a team, ideally within a care, support, sensory loss or community-based setting.
