Stanwick Pre-School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced Deputy Manager to join our friendly team on a temporary maternity cover contract from September 2026 until July 2027.
Working closely with the Manager, you will help lead the day-to-day operation of our thriving community pre-school, supporting staff, children and families to ensure the highest standards of care, learning and safeguarding are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Manager in the day-to-day running of the pre-school.
- Lead the setting in the Manager's absence.
- Promote a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for all children.
- Support planning and delivery of engaging activities in line with the EYFS.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, staff and external professionals.
- Ensure safeguarding and welfare requirements are consistently met.
- Contribute to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and care.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Previous experience working within an early years setting.
- Sound knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
Desirable
- Experience in a leadership or senior practitioner role.
- Experience supporting staff development and mentoring.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.

Qualifications
<ul>

<li>Strong management and leadership skills to guide a team effectively.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.</li>
<li>A relevant qualification in early childhood education or childcare management is preferred.</li>
<li>Knowledge of current regulations and best practices in early childhood education.</li>
<li>A caring attitude with a passion for working with young children.</li>
<li>Driving license is not essential but may be advantageous for certain responsibilities.</li>
