Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Graduate Assistant with a particular passion for Music and Sport to join our team for a 1-year fixed term, term time only contract.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the school’s vibrant co‑curricular life, with a strong emphasis on Music and Sport. While these areas are the priority, the role also involves providing flexible support across the wider school, including Drama, Science, and administrative tasks, depending on school needs.
The successful candidate will be a recent graduate with a passion for music and sport. A commitment to high standards, safeguarding, and pastoral care is essential.

Key responsibilities:
Pupil Support and Wellbeing
Support pupils’ learning, personal development and independence, while fostering positive behaviour and building strong, supportive relationships in an inclusive environment.
Classroom and Academic Support
Assist teaching staff across a range of subjects, helping to deliver lessons, prepare resources, and support varied learning activities.
Practical and Creative Learning
Support hands-on lessons, including experiments, performances, rehearsals and project-based work across academic and creative disciplines.
Co-curricular Involvement
Contribute to after-school clubs, enrichment activities, school events, and sports programmes (including fixtures and coaching where appropriate).
Administrative and School Support
Provide general administrative assistance to staff and contribute to wider school operations, including communications and event support.
Professional Conduct and Teamwork
Work collaboratively with colleagues, attend training, maintain a professional and flexible approach, and contribute positively to the wider life and promotion of the school.
Person Specification:
- A recent graduate degree and a desire to contribute to school life.
- A passion for music, sports and education.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with parents, students, teachers, and other staff.
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to promoting a positive sporting experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- First Aid certification (or a willingness to obtain one)
- A good understanding of child safeguarding policies within the St John’s, Northwood context.
- Enhanced DBS check (to be completed before starting the role).
Desirable Attributes:
- Previous experience working in a school or youth sports coaching environment.
- Experience in coaching or playing cricket and/or football.
