As a Flagging professional, you will be responsible for directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting the overall efficiency of construction operations. Responsibilities
- Safely direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones using clear hand signals and signage
- Communicate effectively with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to prevent accidents and ensure smooth operations
- Set up and maintain warning signs, barricades, cones, and other safety equipment using hand tools and power tools as needed
- Monitor work zones continuously for hazards or unsafe behaviors, taking immediate corrective action when necessary
- Assist with site safety inspections by ensuring all traffic control devices are properly positioned and functioning
- Follow all safety protocols related to flagging, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as high-visibility vests and helmets
- Report any incidents or unsafe conditions to supervisors promptly to uphold a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience in flagging and kerbing is required.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic masonry or carpentry equipment is advantageous
- Knowledge of construction site safety procedures, including OSHA standards related to flagging and traffic control
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly signal directions using standardized hand signals
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions
- Basic understanding of roofing, masonry, welding, or bricklaying is a plus but not mandatory
- Valid certification in flagging or traffic control (if available) is preferred; training can be provided for certification if needed
